As more and more cellphone users jump on the smartphone bandwagon, those users have an increasing appetite for organizing their lives around the device. That includes using smartphones for their banking needs. And that’s something that banks find much too appealing to simply overlook. Banks have for the last several years been increasing their emphasis on software development for mobile banking, including mobile payments and mobile security. The WSJ article cites that 50% of America’s mobile users are smartphone enabled. That’s a significant percentage of the population, and indeed banking customer base, and that number is likely to grow by leaps and bounds.
